Bell Helicopter adds new supplier

Bell Helicopter Textron added American Tinning & Galvanizing Company (ATG) to their Approved Supplier Classified Part Program for cadmium plating, zinc phosphate, chromate conversion coatings, and sulfuric acid and chromic acid anodizing. ATG’s Chemical Processing systems were audited in June 2009 and in July their Quality Systems were approved in accordance to Bell Helicopters QPS 300 standard.
“This is a very significant achievement for ATG. We can now target manufacturers locally – and nationally – that provide products to Bell Helicopter which are classified as “Primary”, “Critical”, or “Flight Safety”. We are very proud of our Quality and Processing Systems, reported Vice-President, Robin Scheppner.
“This accomplishment goes hand in hand with our NADCAP (National Aerospace Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) certification, which we have obtained every year since 2005 and with “Supplier Merit” in 2008 stated Ms Scheppner.
American Tinning & Galvanizing Company specializes in the corrosion control of metal, steel and aluminum by providing “finishing” services. Some of the metal finishing processes offered include hot dip galvanizing, zinc electroplating, cadmium electroplating, cold black oxide, and black phosphate. The aluminum finishes include sulfuric acid anodizing, chromic acid anodizing, chromate conversion coatings and “two step” architectural bronze anodizing.
American Tinning & Galvanizing Company was founded in 1931 by Fred Carlson and is a third generation, family owned business. Since 2004 the company has become more competitive in the marketplace by expanding its menu of services and earning NADCAP certification. The company has invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to upgrade machinery, equipment and critical building repairs over the past 5 years. Today American Tinning & Galvanizing Company employs over 72 employees, working 24 hours a day, 5½ days a week.

American Tinning & Galvanizing Company received notification from the United States/Canada Joint Certification Office of their DD Form 2345 approval on March 18, 2009. “This approval is just another verification of the quality systems and control procedures that have been implemented at our facility over the past 5 years”, stated Lori Hess, QC Manager.

Carlson Erie Corporation, a division of American Tinning & Galvanizing Company, is pleased to announce the opening of a plastic fabrication department. On January 5, 2009, Chris Blakeslee, Fabrication Manager, stated “this is an exciting time for our division; we have been able to add manpower with over 25 years of plastic fabrication know-how to our already expert workforce. This addition will enable us to provide products such as plastic tanks, exhaust systems and material handling fixtures in a variety of plastic applications. We offer Polypropylene, Polyethylene, PVC, Fiberglass, UHMW, and Copolymer” products. ”

American Tinning & Galvanizing Company has recently enacted a, “Buy American First Policy”, Robin Scheppner, Vice – President and Managing Owner of the family owned business located in Erie, Pennsylvania announced on Monday, February 2, 2009. “In an effort to help our local and regional vendors weather the current financial storm we have established the rule that American Tinning & Galvanizing Company will purchase services only from firms operating in the USA” stated Ms. Scheppner. “Historically ATG has always bought American first, but at this downturn we wanted to make it a matter of policy and, hopefully, encourage other local businesses to follow suit”. Ms. Scheppner announced.
